Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point

Havelock is proud to be the location of the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, one of the major employers in the area and home to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. In addition to being a top employer in the area, the air station is also actively involved with the community and offers events such as the semi-annual Pig Pickin’ event or Marine Week.

Croatan National Forest

Explore the only true coastal forest in the east! Featuring 160,000 undeveloped acres of natural land, the Croatan National Forest offers everything from pine forests to bogs and swamps, saltwater estuaries and tidal rivers. Canoeing and fishing are popular along the creeks, and wildlife viewing, camping, picnicking, and hiking are also popular activities throughout the area.

Atlantic Beach is conveniently located just mintues from the attractions of many nearby communities! All the shopping, dining, and events of the Morehead City waterfront are just a 5 minute drive across the Bogue Sound, and Pine Knoll Shores, home to the Theodore Roosevelt Natural Area and the North Carolina Aquarium, is just ten minutes to the west. The historic maritime community of Beaufort is just 15 minutes across the Sound.
