A wealth of community docks and piers throughout the Crystal Coast area offer plenty of opportunities for both Bogue Sound and Atlantic fishing. The two largest of these piers are the Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier in Emerald Isle and Oceana Fishing Pier in Atlantic Beach. Both piers offer affordable daily fares for anglers.

Common Fish of the Crystal Coast

There are a multitude of fish to be found along the Crystal Coast and its many inlets and tributaries. Flounder, red drum, black drum, striped bass, speckled trout, sheepshead, ladyfish, and cobia are all common. The sizes and species of fish most common will, of course, depend on the season, with large cobia being popular in spring, black drum in fall, flounder in summer, and striped bass and speckled trout in January and February.

In open ocean, it’s not uncommon to land bluefish, spanish mackerel, flounder, grouper, or even shark. Recommended areas include inlets and jetties, or waters over coral reefs and plant life.
